East Providence -Adelaide (Alves) Oliver,90, a cherished matriarch and beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Waterview Villa Nursing Home in East Providence. Born on January 26, 1935, in Providence, RI, Adelaide lived a full and loving life, marked by her devotion to her family and her community.
Adelaide was the beloved wife of the late William Oliver and a dedicated mother to Doreen Oliver of East Providence and the late William "Kim" Oliver. She was the proud grandmother of Michael Pattie, Kerri Pattie, and Billy Veiga, and a doting great-grandmother to Aaliyah, Kaylee, Mason Pattie, Landon Hassell, D'Anna Parra, Alexis, Meilani, and Julianna Kim Veiga. Adelaide was a dear sister to Virginia Pianka of East Providence and was preceded in death by her siblings Connie Bagain and Manuel Alves. Her warmth and guidance will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Having moved to East Providence in 1966 from her birthplace of Providence, Adelaide quickly became an integral part of the community. She served with dedication as a receptionist for Dr. Morris Keller for many years and was a familiar and friendly face at Universal Optical Manufacturer, where she took customer orders with care and precision.
Adelaide's faith was an important aspect of her life, and she was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Her love for her faith was only matched by her enjoyment of playing Bingo, a pastime she cherished for the joy and camaraderie it brought her.
Above all, Adelaide found the greatest joy in the time she spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her loving and kind nature made every moment with her a treasured memory, and her legacy of love will continue to live on through them.
Adelaide's life was one of unwavering kindness and love, qualities that were reflected in her every action and interaction. She was a guiding light to all who knew her, and her passing leaves a void that will be felt deeply by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her generous spirit.
As we bid farewell to Adelaide, we celebrate a life well-lived and honor the love and kindness she so freely gave. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who loved her. Rest in peace, dear Adelaide, your warmth and love will never be forgotten.
