Adelaide " Tchubinha" (Dos Santos) Santos

East Providence – Adelaide Da Lomba Santos “Tchubinha”, age 93, a cherished matriarch and pillar of love and faith, passed away peacefully with her daughter Eva by her side on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Waterview Villa Nursing Home.

Born on July 28, 1931, in the beautiful island Brava, Cape Verde, Tchubinha was the beloved daughter of the late Joao Antonio dos Santos and Maria da Lomba Santos. She was the devoted wife of the late Aristides Tavares and a treasured mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt.

Tchubinha's life was marked by resilience, grace, and a deep devotion to her family and faith. She was the loving mother of Eva Tavares, Antonio (Toto) Tavares, Naide Tavares and John Monteiro, and was predeceased by her sons Joao Da Lomba and Norberto Tavares. Her legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren, along with great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.

At the age of 48, Tchubinha courageously left her homeland of Cape Verde to begin a new chapter in the United States settling in East Providence. For over 17 years, she worked diligently as an assembler at Trifari Jewelry Manufacturing, where her strong work ethic and dedication were admired by all who knew her.

A devout woman of faith, Tchubinha was a long-standing parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church. Her unwavering spirituality was the foundation of her life and shone brightly in her daily actions, her deep compassion, and her enduring commitment to her family and community.

Those who knew her will remember Tchubinha as a woman of remarkable strength, and grace. Her kindness and courage were boundless, and her presence left an indelible mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and perseverance that will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were touched by her gentle spirit.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, beginning at 8:00 AM from Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Visiting hours will take place on Friday morning, June 27, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Norberto Tavares Foundation.    Please note: There will be no visitation with the family after the conclusion of the services. www. East Providence – Adelaide Da Lomba Santos “Tchubinha”, de 93 anos, uma matriarca muito querida e pilar de amor e fé, faleceu em paz com sua filha Eva ao seu lado, na quarta-feira, 18 de junho de 2025, no Waterview Villa Nursing Home.

Nascida em 28 de julho de 1931, na bela ilha Brava, em Cabo Verde, Tchubinha era filha amada dos já falecidos João António dos Santos e Maria Da Lomba Santos. Foi esposa dedicada do saudoso Aristides Tavares e uma mãe, avó, bisavó, trisavó e tia muito estimada.

A vida de Tchubinha foi marcada por resiliência, graça e uma profunda devoção à família e à fé. Foi uma mãe amorosa de Eva Tavares, Antonio (Toto) Tavares, Naide Tavares e John Monteiro. Foi também mãe dos já falecidos João Da Lomba e Norberto Tavares. Seu legado continua vivo através de seus 11 netos, assim como seus bisnetos e trinetos, que lhe trouxeram imensa alegria.

Aos 48 anos, Tchubinha teve a coragem de deixar sua terra natal, Cabo Verde, para iniciar um novo capítulo nos Estados Unidos. Depois de viver em Pawtucket, estabeleceu-se em East Providence em 1989. Trabalhou por mais de 17 anos como montadora na Trifari Jewelry Manufacturing, onde sua ética de trabalho e dedicação foram amplamente admiradas.

Mulher de fé profunda, Tchubinha foi por muitos anos paroquiana da Igreja de São Francisco Xavier. Sua espiritualidade inabalável foi o alicerce de sua vida e se refletia em suas ações diárias, sua compaixão e seu compromisso com a família e a comunidade.

Aqueles que a conheceram lembrarão de Tchubinha como uma mulher de força e graça notáveis. Sua bondade e coragem não tinham limites, e sua presença deixou uma marca inesquecível em todos que tiveram o privilégio de conhecê-la.

Ela deixa um legado de amor, fé e perseverança que continuará vivo nos corações de sua família e de todos que foram tocados por seu espírito gentil.

Os serviços fúnebres serão realizados na quinta-feira, 27 de junho de 2025, com início às 8h00, na Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, seguidos por uma Missa de Corpo Presente às 10h30, na Igreja de São Francisco Xavier, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence.
O sepultamento ocorrerá no Cemitério Gate of Heaven, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

As visitas de condolências acontecerão na manhã de sexta-feira, dia 27 de Junho, das 8h00 às 10h00, na funerária.

Em vez de flores, doações em memória de Tchubinha podem ser feitas para a Fundação Norberto Tavares.
