Cranston - Adeline "Lolly" (Lima) Martin, a cherished soul known for her loving nature, faith-filled heart, and gentle spirit, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Eastgate Nursing Home in East Providence. Born in Providence and residing in Cranston for much of her life, Lolly was a beacon of joy and kindness throughout her remarkable 98 years.
Lolly was the beloved wife of the late George Martin, and the treasured daughter of the late Joseph A. and Adelina (Mello) Lima, Sr. She was a devoted sister to Theresa Caduto and Lydia Moniz of East Providence. In addition to her parents and husband, Lolly was preceded in death by her siblings Joseph A. Lima, Jr., Manuel Lima, Mary Estelle Santos, and Mary D. Souza. Her memory will be forever cherished by her many nieces and nephews, who saw in her the embodiment of familial love and guidance.
For over three decades, Lolly dedicated her professional life to B.A. Ballou Jewelry manufacturer, where she served as the Coordinator in the Findings Department. Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her involvement in her community and church. A devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Lolly was actively engaged in church activities, contributing her time and energy to the spiritual and communal life of her parish.
Lolly's interests and hobbies painted the picture of a life lived with zest and camaraderie. An avid bowler, she was a proud member of the B.A. Ballou bowling league, where she shared laughter and competition in equal measure. Lolly's love for travel took her on many adventures, while her appreciation for the outdoors reminded her of the beauty in every sunrise and the peace in every sunset.
Those who knew Lolly will remember her as the epitome of love in action. She approached every day with a faith that was as unshakeable as it was inspiring. Her gentle demeanor was a constant source of comfort to those around her, and her legacy is one marked by the countless lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.
As we say goodbye to Adeline "Lolly" Martin, we celebrate a life that was rich in experiences and abundant in love. Her journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Lolly will be laid to rest beside her beloved George, and together they will watch over us, as we hold onto the lessons of kindness and faith, they both exemplified. Farewell, dear Lolly, until we meet again.
