East Providence - Adelino Rodrigues Costa,71, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6th, 2026, at Hope Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on the 16th of May 1954, in the quaint village of Paredes Do Alvao, Portugal, Adelino was a man of immense kindness and a gentle spirit, whose love and warmth touched all who knew him.
Adelino, fondly known by his friends and family, was the proud son of the late Alfredo Jose Costa and Inocencia (Pereira) Costa. He grew up surrounded by the love and camaraderie of his siblings Antonio Costa, Helen Pereira, Manuela Martins, Almerinda Costa, all of East Providence, and was predeceased by his sister, the late Amalia Costa. He held a special place in his heart for his six nephews and two nieces, whose lives he enriched with his loving presence and guidance.
In 1983, Adelino embarked on a new journey, moving from the Fox Point section of Providence to East Providence, where he would lay down roots and build a life filled with community, faith, and purpose. He was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith and the fellowship of his church community.
For over four decades, Adelino dedicated himself to his work as a screen printer at Harwood Manufacturing. His commitment to his craft and the friendships he forged with his colleagues were hallmarks of a career marked by loyalty and excellence. Even after his retirement, the impact of his professional contributions remained evident in the many products that bore the mark of his skilled hands.
Adelino's passion for life extended beyond the walls of his workplace. As an active member of the Brightridge Club, he found joy in camaraderie and shared interests. His love for reading provided him with endless hours of exploration and adventure, as he delved into stories and knowledge that spanned the globe. The tranquility of his garden was a testament to his patience and nurturing touch, where he cultivated not just plants, but a space of beauty and contemplation for all who visited.
A devoted fan of the Porto Soccer Club, Adelino never missed a chance to cheer on his team, watching their matches on television with an enthusiasm that was infectious. His support for the club was unwavering, and the excitement of the game was a source of great pleasure throughout his life.
Adelino will be remembered as a man of unwavering love, kindness, and gentleness. His legacy is one of simple joys, deep connections, and a life lived with an open heart. To have known Adelino was to know the embodiment of these virtues, and although he has departed from this world, his spirit continues to inspire and guide those he has left behind.
As we say farewell to Adelino Rodrigues Costa, we celebrate a life well-lived, cherished memories, and the indelible imprint he has left on our hearts. His journey on earth has ended, but his story will be told for generations, a narrative of a man who loved deeply, lived fully, and left the world a better place simply by being in it.
