Anastacio Bernardo, 92, of Pawtucket and formerly of Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 1st, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Maria O. Bernardo to whom he was married for 55 years. Born in Rabo de Peixe, São Miguel, Azores. He was the son of the late Theodore and Maria de Estrela Bernardo.
Mr. Bernardo immigrated to the United States in 1969 and lived in Providence for 48 years and later moved to Pawtucket. He was a well-known fisherman for many years and also worked at Eviton until he retired.
He was the loving father of nine children. Manuel Bernardo and his wife Dinora Bernardo of East Providence, Anna Bernardo and her husband Nomezio Bernardo of Warwick, Anastacio Bernardo, Jr and his wife Otilia Bernardo of East Providence, Jose Bernardo of East Providence, Miguel Bernardo and wife Ligia Bernardo of East Providence, Lionel Bernardo of Providence, Clementina Alvarez and her husband Carlos Alvarez of Woonsocket, Lisa Bernardo and her husband Raymond Massey of Pawtucket, Suzie Bernardo of Providence, one brother Moses Estrela and one sister, Zelia Carreiro, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Gabriel Bernardo, Manuel Bernardo, Jose Rebello, Armando Bernardo.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 8:45am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Friday, August 8, 2025, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm in the funeral home.
