With profound love and respect, we honor the life of Andronikos " Andy" P. Fidas, known affectionately as Andy, who passed away peacefully at RI Hospital in Providence, RI, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on February 24, 1950, in the scenic village of Valyra, Messenia, Greece, Andronikos was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Andy was the cherished husband of Barbara (Cordeiro) Fidas, with whom he shared over 49 blissful years of marriage. He was the proud son of the late Paraskevas and Olga (Hliopoulou) Fidas and a devoted father to Athena O. Fidas, Alexandra M. Fidas, and Androniki Fidas. His legacy as a loving grandfather will live on through Alexis, Andronikos, and Zoe. He was a caring brother to Paraskevas Fidas, George P. Fidas, the late Arthur P. Fidas, and the late Vasiliki Fidas. Andronikos was also a supportive uncle to many nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and warm presence.
In 1975, Andy embarked on a journey as the Owner and Operator of the Original Silver Lake Pizza on Pocasset Avenue, Providence. His establishment wasn't just a place to enjoy delicious food; it was a community hub where Andronikos's generous spirit and welcoming smile were as much a staple as the pizza he crafted with love. He served not only his customers but also his community, as an active member of the Church of the Annunciation in Cranston.
Andy's zest for life was evident in his diverse interests and hobbies. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, he engaged in charitable works and fellowship. His passion for sports was multifaceted, encompassing bow and arrow, shooting, fishing, playing pool, and a love of card games. These activities brought joy to Andy and those who had the pleasure of joining him.
Throughout his illness, Andy was blessed with the unwavering support of his close friends Ian, Bruce, and Bob. Their companionship during his most challenging times spoke volumes of the deep bonds he had formed and the impact he had on those around him.
The words that best describe Andy are loving, kind, and generous. He approached life with an open heart, always ready to extend a helping hand or share a moment of joy. His kindness rippled through his community, leaving a legacy of compassion and service that will continue to inspire.
Andy's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family bonds. His laughter, wisdom, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Though he has left this earthly realm, the memories he created will forever be treasured in the hearts of his loved ones.
We bid farewell to Andronikos P. Fidas, a man who enriched the lives of others through his unwavering love and selfless acts of generosity.
