Antone Ferreira,Jr. Obituary

Rumford - Antone Ferreira, Jr., 85, of Rumford, affectionately known as Tony, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at RI Hospital in Providence. Born on March 28, 1939, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Antone and Virginia (Pacheco) Ferreira, Sr., Tony lived a full life marked by dedication to his family, his craft, and his community.

A devoted husband, Tony was the loving partner of the late Carol (Such) Ferreira. He was a cherished father to his children, Michael Ferreira (Judy) of Cranston, Mark Ferreira (Diane) of Seekonk, MA, and Melissa Sabatos (Steven) of Chepachet, RI.  Tony's wisdom and guidance also extended to his role as a brother to Loretta Gough of Warwick and the late Virginia Nunes. His legacy continued through his grandchildren, Adam, Connor, Emily, Jack, and Cody, and he had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Charlotte. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Tony's family was the cornerstone of his life, and his love and kindness enveloped them all.

For over 40 years, Tony honed his skills as a self-employed carpenter, a trade that showcased his meticulous craftsmanship and creative spirit. His work not only built structures but also fostered a sense of community and continuity in the towns he served.

Tony's enthusiasm for life was evident in his numerous interests and hobbies. He was a proud President of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes for many years.  As a member of the RAOB, he continuously helped raise funds for the sick, spending many years actively supporting and fundraising for children with cardiac ailments.  Charity has always been the heart of the Buffaloes and Tony personified this role.

He was an ardent car enthusiast who loved his classic Mustang, finding joy in the details and histories of classic automobiles. His passion for woodworking was not just a profession but also an art form, as he created beautiful pieces that will be treasured for generations.  In his earlier years he was a camper and golfer.  Light on his feet, he enjoying dancing, and was a skillful card and pool player, always ready for a friendly competition. Beyond these pursuits, Tony was an artist whose creativity knew no bounds, and he loved the simplicity and connection to nature that came with camping.

Those who knew Tony would describe him as loving, kind, and generous. His presence was a comfort, his laughter infectious, and his ability to make others feel valued was a gift he gave freely. Tony's impact on his family and friends was profound, and his absence will be deeply felt by many.

Tony's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the strength of family bonds. His guidance and warmth will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we remember Antone, we celebrate a life well-lived and honor the memories he leaves behind.

His passing is not only a loss to his family but also to the community that he so positively influenced. Tony's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to those he loved and the passions that brought him joy. He will be remembered as a pillar of strength, a beacon of kindness, and a man who embraced life with open arms. Rest in peace, Tony; your legacy will endure.
