Riverside - Antonio Manuel Luz Resendes, known affectionately as Tony to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at his home in Riverside, Rhode Island, on, Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Born on December 3, 1953, in Santa Maria, Azores, he was a man whose life was defined by devotion to his family, a steadfast work ethic, and his faith.

Antonio was the cherished husband of Maria Da Conceicao (Andrade) Resendes, with whom he shared over 48 years of love and companionship. He was the beloved son of the late Antonio F. Resendes and Senhorinha (Luz) Resendes. His legacy of love and laughter lives on through his children.  Sonia Amaral and husband Richard Amaral of Seekonk, MA and Alex Resendes and wife Shawna Resendes of Seekonk, MA. He is survived by his bother Jose Resendes and wife Mariazinha Resendes, sister Maria Jose Costa and husband Armando Costa, Joao Resendes and wife Maria Jose Resendes, and Fatima Resendes and late husband Jose Resendes. He was also a devoted uncle to several nieces and nephews.  All residing in Ontario, Canada, his siblings and their families will fondly remember Antonio's friendly nature and his ability to light up any room. He was the brother-in-law to Helen Cabral and late husband David Cabral, Valdimira Medeiros and late husband Antonio Medeiros, Liduina Pinto and late husband Afonso Pinto, Antonio Humberto Andrade and wife Goreti Andrade, Luisa Moura and late husband Manuel Moura, late Filomena Braga and husband Antonio Braga, and Jose Manuel Andrade.  His nieces and nephews, too, will carry forward the memories of their fun-loving uncle.

Antonio's professional life was marked by loyalty and precision, as he dedicated over 27 years to the Materion Manufacturing Company as a Machine Operator. His commitment to quality was evident both in his work and in the way he led his life. He retired from Materion, December 2022.

A man of faith, Antonio was a long-time parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church. His involvement in the community extended to his active membership in the Holy Ghost Brotherhood Mariense. Antonio's interests were a reflection of his love for the simple pleasures in life. He found joy in gardening, a hobby that not only brought beauty to his surroundings but also a sense of peace and accomplishment. Fishing was another pastime that allowed him to bask in the tranquility of nature while demonstrating patience and skill.

Antonio's passion for soccer was unrivaled, especially when it came to supporting his favorite team, Sporting Club de Portugal. His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, and he was known to celebrate every victory with the same fervor as if it were the first.

Those who knew Antonio will remember him as a man who was funny, friendly, and faith filled. He approached life with a sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest of days. His friendly demeanor made him a beloved figure in his community, and his faith was the guiding principle by which he lived his life.
