Barbara Faria Obituary

Coventry - Barbara B. (Cotta) Faria,86, a beacon of kindness and gentleness, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Kent Hospital in Warwick, Rhode Island. Born on September 8, 1938, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Joseph and Rose (Raposa) Cotta, Barbara’s life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

Barbara, known affectionately as Barbara to her friends and family, dedicated over three decades of her life as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper for the Diocese of Providence - Catholic Schools Office. Her diligent and meticulous work ethic, coupled with her warm presence, made her a cherished colleague. In 1988, Barbara left her mark on the East Providence community and moved to Coventry, where she continued to share her love and talents with those around her.

She was a graduate of St. Mary Academy - Bayview  Class of 1956.

A steadfast parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, East Providence, Barbara's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She lived her beliefs through action, volunteering for the Grandmothers Program at the western Coventry School Department. There, she touched the lives of many, guiding and nurturing the young with the same love and attention she bestowed upon her own family.

Barbara's nurturing nature extended to her hobbies as well. She found joy and solace in the art of crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that were often gifted to loved ones and reflected the warmth of her personality. Her gentle hands were always busy, whether they were tending to the needs of her family or intricately weaving yarn into comfort.

She leaves behind a legacy of love as the devoted mother of Earl T. Faria, Jr., of Coventry, and the cherished sister of Lorraine Dugger of Coventry. Barbara's role as a grandmother and great-grandmother was one she embraced with every fiber of her being. Her grandchildren, Allison Lockard and Zachary Faria, and great-grandchildren, Hannah and Ben Lockard, will carry the memory of her loving spirit with them always.

Barbara’s life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and gentle strength. She was a guiding light to her family, a true friend to many, and a caring soul to those who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive in the hearts of those she touched.

As we say goodbye to Barbara, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by the countless lives she enriched. Her departure leaves a void in the community she so lovingly served, but her influence will continue to be felt by all who were blessed to know her. Barbara B. (Cotta) Faria was a remarkable woman whose legacy of love and kindness will forever be etched in our memories.
