Barbara Harrington Obituary

Riverside - Barbara K. (Cabral) Harrington, a treasured soul known for her loving kindness and selfless nature, passed away peacefully at her home in Riverside, RI, on Saturday ,October 19, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on January 1, 1933, in Providence, RI, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel and Mary Cabral and grew to embody the warmth and nurturing spirit that her parents instilled in her.

Barbara's life was one marked by devotion to her family and an unwavering commitment to her community. She was the cherished wife of the late Donald Harrington and a dedicated mother to David, Neil, and Scott Harrington, all of Riverside, and Robin Fownes of North Carolina. Barbara's family also included her stepsons, Douglas Harrington of Texas and Frederic Harrington of Riverside. She was the proud grandmother to six grandchildren who were the light of her life. Her familial bond extended to her sister, Bernice Costa of Riverside, and she was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Cabral. Barbara's legacy continues through her several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Throughout her career, Barbara served as an office clerk for the former Curran and Burton Oil Company, where her diligent work ethic and personable nature made her a beloved figure among her colleagues. Her dedication to her role was evident in the many years she spent ensuring the company's operations ran smoothly, a testament to her reliability and attention to detail.

In her personal life, Barbara's passions were as nurturing as her personality. She found great joy in the tranquility of her garden, cultivating a space of beauty and serenity that reflected her inner grace. Barbara also had an insatiable appetite for knowledge, which she satisfied through her love of reading. Her well-thumbed books were her treasured companions, and she often shared the insights she gained with those around her.

Barbara's character could be summed up in three simple words: loving, kind, and selfless. She approached life with an open heart, giving freely of herself to those in need and always putting the well-being of others before her own. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength to her family and friends, and she has left an indelible mark on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

As we reflect on Barbara's life, we are reminded of the impact one individual can have on the world through acts of love and kindness. She was a beacon of light in her community, a nurturing presence in her family, and a friend to all. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories that are shared, the gardens that bloom, and the love that continues to grow in the hearts she touched.

Barbara's life will be celebrated in a private ceremony, where her family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. In her passing, the world has lost a truly remarkable woman, but the essence of who she was will forever be remembered and revered.

As the sun sets on a life well-lived, we bid farewell to Barbara K. (Cabral) Harrington, a woman of extraordinary warmth and generosity.
