Berta M. Pacheco, 78,a cherished pillar of warmth and kindness, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Hope Hospice in Providence. Born on November 3, 1946, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Berta's life was a testament to love, dedication, and service, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Berta, the beloved wife of the late Tiberio Pacheco, was the loving matriarch of her family. She was the devoted daughter of the late Jose M. and Angelina F. (Furtado) Pacheco. Her nurturing spirit will be profoundly missed by her son, Joseph Pacheco of Cranston, and her adored grandson, Jordan Dominic Pacheco, also of Cranston. Berta's memory will be treasured by her siblings, Carlos Pacheco of Florida, Armando Pacheco and his fiancé Lori of Cranston, Jose Pacheco and Fernanda Correia of California, and she was predeceased by her brother Artur Pacheco. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to her family, and her legacy will continue to flourish through them.
Berta's professional life was marked by her unwavering commitment to caring for others. She dedicated over 20 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Cranston ARC, where her gentle touch and compassionate nature were a blessing to many. Prior to her time at the ARC, Berta worked at Davol Rubber in the packing and shipping department for over 14 years, and she also spent more than two decades as a machine operator at Imperial Knife. Her work ethic and dedication to her roles were unparalleled, and she was respected by her colleagues for her reliability and kindness.
A woman of faith, Berta was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Her spirituality was a guiding force in her life, and she found solace and strength in her community of worship. Berta's interests were a reflection of her love for life and nature. She found joy in walking, an activity that allowed her to appreciate the simple beauty of the world around her. Berta's passion for gardening was evident in the vibrant flowers that adorned her home, a symbol of her ability to nurture and cultivate beauty in all aspects of life. Her love for the beach was more than just a pastime; it was where she felt connected to the serenity of the ocean and the rhythm of the waves.
Volunteering at the food bank was another way Berta chose to give back to her community, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her selfless acts of kindness did not go unnoticed, and she inspired many to follow in her footsteps of generosity.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
