Riverside - Carlos R. Santos,70, known affectionately as Carlos to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Hope Hospice in Providence, RI. Born on January 15, 1955, in Providence, Carlos was a lifelong resident of Rhode Island, spending the majority of his life in the community of Riverside.
Carlos was the cherished husband of Margie (Balasco) Santos, with whom he shared over 28 years of love and companionship. The son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Enos) Santos, he was a dedicated family man who will be remembered for his kind spirit and selfless nature. Carlos's legacy continues through his beloved daughters Crystal Santos and her boyfriend Justin Vieira of Riverside, Kerri O'Connell of Swansea, and his stepchildren Richard Lapre of Providence, and Gina Balasco of Central Falls. A loving brother, he is survived by Paul Santos of Pawtucket, Kenny Santos of Riverside, Bruce Santos of Florida, and he was preceded in death by his brother, the late Raymond Santos.
Carlos was a proud uncle to Nathan Santos and a doting grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Julian, Aria, and Jalen Vieira, as well as Jeremiah and Jaliyah Balasco. His role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and the memories created with his grandchildren will be treasured forever.
For over 34 years, Carlos dedicated his career to the Bullocks Point Village Association, where he served as the Head of Maintenance. His colleagues knew him as a man who could fix anything, a trait that earned him much respect and admiration from all who worked alongside him.
Throughout his life in Riverside, Carlos cultivated a myriad of interests that reflected his creative and handy nature. An avid gardener, he took pride in nurturing his plants and flowers, creating a haven of tranquility and beauty for his family and friends to enjoy. Carlos was also an enthusiastic fisherman, often found enjoying the serene Rhode Island waters while waiting for the next big catch. His love for building furniture showcased his creativity and skill, turning simple materials into cherished pieces for his loved ones.
A devoted fan of the New England Patriots, Carlos's passion for his team was infectious, and game days were always a special occasion in the Santos household. His loyalty and enthusiasm for his team were unwavering, much like the support he extended to his family and friends.
Words that best describe Carlos are handy, creative, and selfless. His ability to create and mend was paralleled only by his capacity to give and care for others. Carlos's impact on the world was as tangible as the furniture he built and as nurturing as the gardens he tended. His warm presence and generous spirit will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
