Catherine Mary Maia

West Warwick - Catherine “Cathy” Mary Maia, 61, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20,2025 at Hope Hospice, Providence. She was born in Providence, the daughter of the late Jose B.  and Dorothy (Mello) Maia.

She has lived in West Warwick for over 25 years, previously living in Portsmouth. 

Cathy had been a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, in her younger years. She participated in the Special Olympics in the throwing competition. She enjoyed eating with her family, spending time on the couch with her favorite blanket. Cathy was very close to her late mother.

She had a lot of the Maia family traits, she liked being left alone and could be quite stubborn.

Cathy was the sister of Kenneth Maia and Lydia Perry of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Christine Maia of Providence, and Kimberly Moniz and George Farrow of Riverside.

She was the aunt of Dylan, Jasmin, Tayla, Aliah, Jesse and the great aunt of Gabriel and Tessa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 10:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend.   Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Donations in her memory may be made to the Special Olympics of Rhode Island, 370 George Washington Hwy, Smithfield, RI 02917, Arrangements by the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, East Providence.
