Catherine L. (Bonalewicz) Pappas

Catherine L (Bonalewicz) Pappas, 74, of East Providence, RI passed away unexpectedly on December 2nd at her home.  

She was the daughter of Josephine Bonalewicz and the late John Bonalewicz.  She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J Pappas Jr.  They shared 48 beautiful years of love and making memories.  

Cathie is survived by her daughters, Lisa Pappas of Warwick and Bethany Donnelly and her husband, Edward Donnelly of North Kingstown.  She was a proud and adoring grandma to Emma and Joseph Donnelly. Cathie was not only a sibling but a friend to John J Bonalewicz, Fred Bonalewicz, Cindi O’Blenis and a half-brother John H Bonalewicz. She loved her nieces and nephews, Melissa Herald, Michael Jenkinson, Corey O’Blenis, Ashley O’Blenis, Cassie O’Blenis, Miles Bonalewicz, Dan Bonalewicz, and the late Heather Bonalewicz.  

Anyone who knew Cathie knew what a beautiful, loving and caring person she was.  She loved laughter and good times.  She was always put together, wearing fancy clothes and matching jewelry.  Cathie loved throwing parties, spending time with her many friends from over the years, reading, vacationing, an occasional trip to the casino, and enjoying her flower garden.  

Cathie enjoyed working as a secretary at Rhode Island Hospital for 48 years before retiring. 

Cathie lit up the room with a little glitter wherever she went.  Cathie was a caring and loving woman throughout all of life’s obstacles. She was a loving daughter, sibling, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:30am in St. Martha Church, 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.  Calling hours are Friday December 6, 2024, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI.
