Cheryl Ann Coite, 61, of East Providence, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. She was the beloved wife of Leonard A. Sparrow, Jr., with whom she shared a loving marriage since November 24, 1996.
Born in Providence, RI, on March 2, 1963, Cheryl was the cherished daughter of Elsie (Gonsalves) Masi of East Providence and the late Anthony Coite, Jr. She grew up in East Providence, graduating from East Providence High School in 1981. Cheryl furthered her education by earning a bachelor's degree in accounting from Emmanuel College in Boston, MA. A dedicated professional, she worked for many years in various accounting firms, with her longest tenure at Harborside Advisory in Boston.
Cheryl was passionate about traveling, enjoying numerous Caribbean cruises and trips to Europe with Len. She was a social butterfly who treasured her friendships and had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved Yorkie, Rian. Cheryl will be profoundly missed by her many close friends and family.
In addition to her devoted husband of over 27 years, Len, and her loving mother, Elsie, Cheryl is survived by her sister, Shirley Ann Mendonca, and her husband William of Seekonk. She leaves behind her nieces: Michelle Shaw and her husband Brian, and Melanie Gouveia and her husband Sean; her nephew: Mark Mendonca and his wife Keri; two great-nephews, two great-nieces, and one great-great niece. Cheryl also leaves her in-laws, Maryann Kennedy and her husband John, and their son Douglas. She is survived by her cousin Edward Gonsalves, two step-sisters, three step-brothers, and their families, as well as many aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins on the Coite side.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Monday, May 27, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her honor by Reverend Joseph Escobar on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
