Cheryl George Obituary

Barrington - Cheryl A. (Graves) George,72, affectionately known as Cheryl by her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Hope Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on January 18,1953, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Cheryl was a vibrant soul whose love and laughter left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Cheryl was the beloved wife of the late James Papagolos, a union that was cherished until James's passing. She was the treasured daughter of the late Gilbert and Roseanne (Forant) Graves, a lineage that instilled in her the values of family and community that she carried throughout her life. As a devoted mother, Cheryl's nurturing spirit will be deeply missed by her children, Edward George of Cranston and Tonya George of Barrington. Her brother, Richard Graves, will hold dear the memories they shared, as will the family remember the late Frederick Graves, Cheryl's brother, with fondness.

Her role as an aunt was one Cheryl embraced with joy and humor. She brought smiles to the faces of her nieces and nephews, Dierdre, Tiffany, Holly, Anne, Amy, and David. Cheryl was a proud grandmother to Trent Senn, Jasmine George, Tyler George, and Camryn George, and she was blessed to see her legacy continue with her great-grandson, Tyler George, Jr.  Stepchildren  Stacy and James Papagolos.

Cheryl's working years were spent as a dedicated grocery store clerk, a position she held for over five years, where she was known for her friendly demeanor and quick wit. After moving from Largo, Florida, she spent her final year and a half in Barrington, Rhode Island, where she continued to be an active and cherished member of her community.

Throughout her life, Cheryl had a passion for the simple pleasures. She found contentment in watching cooking shows, a hobby that reflected her love for creating and sharing meals with her loved ones. Knitting was another of Cheryl's talents, through which she crafted warmth and comfort for those around her. The sight of yellow roses brought her immense joy, as did the music of her favorite bands, the Eagles, Beach Boys, and Air Supply. Her spirit and grace shone brightly when she was crowned Miss VFW in 1968 at Post 106, a title she held with pride and grace.

The words loving, funny, and courageous, spirited and gentle encapsulate Cheryl's essence. She approached life's challenges with bravery and a smile, and her sense of humor was a beacon of light even in the darkest of times. Cheryl's love for her family was her driving force, and her legacy of laughter, courage, and love will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Cheryl's presence will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family and friends. As we bid farewell to Cheryl A. (Graves) George, we celebrate a life lived with passion, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.

Her memory will be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
