Christine Carol Valles - Smith

Christine C. Valles Smith passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 17, 2026, surrounded by her husband and sisters.  She was the beloved wife of Vincent Smith of Gastonia, North Carolina.

Christine was the daughter of the late Margaret (Braz) Valles and late John Valles of East Providence. She was the loving sister to Orlondo J. Valles, Lamont J. Valles, Judith Valles Cruz and Bonita A. Valles, all from East Providence, Debora Johnson from Las Vegas, Nevada and her beloved pet Kobe for whom she loved very much. She bonded instantly with all 12 of her in-laws. She had 17 nieces/nephews, 30 grandnieces/nephews and inherited 33 nieces/nephews and 44 grandnieces/nephews. She was the Godmother to Derek, Shavon, Tenita, Thiago, Jared, Tori and Bianca.

She graduated from East Providence High School and Katharine Gibbs School. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI, and then the State of RI as a Motor Vehicle Clerk before retiring after 30 years. She was a former member of the Cape Verdean Progressive Center. 

She loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends, vacationing and time spent by the water. Her faith was an important part of her life. Her home was a place of warmth and togetherness and treasured the simple and meaningful moments shared with those she loved. Though her passing leaves a profound emptiness, her life stands as a beautiful testament to devotion, faith and love.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 2,2026 at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME,901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346Waterman Avenue, East Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
