Clara Hicks Obituary

Clara Ann  (Houle) Hicks 78, a beacon of love and courage, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at RI Hospital Providence. Born on February 21, 1947, in Providence, Rhode Island, Clara's life was a testament to her loving nature and her unwavering spirit. The daughter of the late Edmond P. and Irene (Albert) Houle, Clara was a cherished member of a close-knit family. She was the former wife of William Hicks and a devoted mother to her children Kim Mansuetti, Wendy Dean and her husband Eric, Nicole Hicks and Michael Hyder, and Christine Mitchell and her husband Robert. Clara was a loving sister to Robert Houle, Edward Houle and his wife Doreen, and was predeceased by her siblings Victoria Cunningham and Irene Hyatt. She was a doting grandmother to Krystle, Tiffany, Amanda, Samantha, Courtney, Eric, Jr., Kayla, and Emily, and a proud great-grandmother to Giovanni, Snow, Kali, Sage, Zahvyen, Zarielys, and Nova. Clara also held a special place in the hearts of her nieces Christina May and Tracy Manning.

For over four decades, Clara dedicated her professional life as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Nursery at Woman and Infants Hospital. Her nurturing touch and compassionate care left a lasting impact on countless lives. Clara's commitment to her work was paralleled only by her love for her family and her community. After many years of creating memories in Warwick and East Providence, she spent her final two years in Riverside, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of her neighbors.

Clara embraced life with open arms and found joy in the simple pleasures. She was an avid traveler, exploring new horizons and experiencing different cultures. Her love for gardening was evident in the vibrant colors and sweet fragrances that surrounded her home. A voracious reader, Clara could often be found lost in the pages of a good book, and her passion for westerns was a hallmark of her leisure time. Vacations were not just a time for relaxation but an opportunity for Clara to bond with her family, creating cherished memories that will be held dear forever.

Described as loving, friendly, and courageous, Clara's presence was a source of comfort and strength to all who knew her. Her smile could light up a room, and her friendship was a gift that many were fortunate to receive. Clara's courage in the face of life's challenges was an inspiration, reminding us all to face each day with grace and determination.

Clara A. (Houle) Hicks will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her generous spirit. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on through the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the countless individuals she cared for throughout her career. As we say farewell to Clara, we celebrate a life well-lived and honor the remarkable woman she was. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of the lives she touched.
