JOHNSTON – Daniel Tavares Pacheco “Danny” Lourenço, 78, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth (Pimental) Lourenço, who passed away on March 15, 2019.
Born in São Miguel, Azores on September 5, 1947, he was the loving son of the late Ernesto Pacheco Lourenço and Maria de Lourdes Pacheco Tavares.
Daniel grew up in São Miguel and emigrated to the United States on June 9, 1978, settling in Rhode Island. He worked for American Insulated Wire in Pawtucket for several years and, in 1986, founded Danny Lourenço Flooring, which he proudly owned and operated until his retirement in 2013.
A man of devout Catholic faith, he was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Providence. He loved returning to his homeland in the Azores and was deeply proud of his Portuguese heritage. He was a loyal fan of Sporting Clube de Portugal.
Known for his exceptional work ethic, Daniel took great pride in his craft and the quality of his work. He was a selfless provider who always put his family first — a true family man in every sense. His happiest moments were those spent with his adoring family, especially his grandchildren.
He was the devoted father of Emanuel Lourenço of Chepachet; Dinarte Lourenço and his wife Yessica; Zelia Ponte and her husband Helder; and Michelle Lourenço Sousa and her husband Paulo, all of Johnston.
He was the cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Joseph, Maranda, Daniel, Emanuel Jr., Alexia, Tanya, Matthew, Jayden, Kaylee, Brandon, Jaelynn, and Emma; and great-grandfather of Sophia, Bella, Gia, and Lena.
He was the dear brother of Manuel Lourenço of São Miguel, Azores, and Normanda Cordeiro of Riverside. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Roberto Lourenço and the brother of the late Ernesto Lourenço and Natalia Barata.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 9:00 AM from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in his honor by the Reverend Joseph Escobar at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
