David Huntoon Obituary

SEEKONK – David F. Huntoon Sr., 82, a cherished resident of Seekonk for the past 24 years and formerly of the Fox Point neighborhood of Providence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the devoted husband of Carole (Parks) Huntoon, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.

Born on October 26, 1942, in Providence, RI, David was the beloved son of the late Francis S. Huntoon and Ann (Heaphy) Keurijian.

David dedicated many years of his life to the United States Postal Service. A man of deep faith, he was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Fox Point, where he found comfort and community.

David had a deep love for New England sports, particularly baseball, and was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. A true homebody at heart, he cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored.

In addition to his beloved wife, Carole, David is survived by his son, Barry Huntoon of Riverside; his treasured grandchildren: D.J., Keith and his wife Victoria, Holly, Jordan, Kelsey, and Brandon; his great-grandchildren, Noah and Keith Jr.; and his daughter-in-law, Maria Huntoon of Warwick. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews that meant a lot to him.

He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Francis Sprague and her husband James, and Patricia Burghardt and her husband Charles.

David was predeceased by his son, the late David Huntoon Jr.; his great-grandson, the late Levi; and his siblings, Evelyn Tassoni and Robert F. Huntoon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Escobar on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend.

Visitation is respectfully omitted, and interment will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society online at www.cancer.org and the Tomorrow Fund online at www.tomorrowfund.org.
