Deolinda E. Pires

Deolinda E. (Fidalgo) Pires, 92, of Swansea, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the widow of the late Domingos Lopes Pires.

Born in Soajo, Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Domingos Gonçalves Fidalgo and Maria Enes.

Prior to retiring, Deolinda, spent most of her career as a machine operator at the former Cable Electric. She found her greatest joy in the simple, beautiful things in life. She loved spending time in Portugal with her husband, tending to their farm and vineyard where she was known for her ability to grow anything and for making wonderful wine. A talented cook, she delighted in feeding friends and family, ensuring no one ever left her home hungry. She also enjoyed crocheting, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her granddaughters, especially during the summers they would spend with her in Portugal.

She is survived by her daughter, Ana M. Martins and her husband Manuel; her son, Manuel Pires and his wife Susana; her grandchildren, Patricia, Lindsey, and Melissa; and her great-grandchildren, Chloe, William, and Colton-James. She was the sister of the late Joaquim, Manuel, Maria, Teresa, and Rosa.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. Funeral prayers will take place in the funeral home beginning promptly at 7:30 PM, officiated by the Reverend Jorge Rocha. Burial will take place in Soajo, Arcos de Valdevez Cemetery, Portugal.
