Mrs. Dianne Leslie Laiscell, 75, of East Providence died December 15, 2024, at Kent County Hospital. She was born on January 6, 1949, in Norwich, Connecticut to the late Gladys Ruley Traynum and the late James Lloyd Ellis.
Dianne attended Hartford Public Schools. She married John Edward Laiscell, Sr., who preceded her in death on December 16, 2021. In addition to her husband and parents, three sisters predeceased Dianne: Mrs. Geraldine E. Keelen, Ms. Sheila L. Traynum, and Ms. Doreen E. Traynum.
Dianne is survived by her daughter Mrs. Gladys Town (Jeff) of N. Augusta, South Carolina, and her son Mr. John Edward Laiscell, Jr. (Nicole) of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Dianne is survived by seven sisters: Mrs. Arlene Tillman, Ms. Charlene Fountain, Ms. Deborah Traynum, Dr. DeLois Lindsey (Carlton), Dr. Valerie Robinson, Dr. Jeleta Brown (Charles), and Ms. Annette Traynum, and three brothers Mr. David Traynum (Leandra), Mr. Leonard Traynum (Loretta), and Mr. Marvin Traynum. She also leaves two grandchildren, John Lucas and Sheridan Town; and three great-grandchildren, John Diggs, Cassidy Fuller, and Londyn Lucas, and many nieces and nephews.
In the early 1960s, Dianne was one of the very first teenagers to raise money for Danny Thomas’ initiative to build a hospital for children with terminal illness. The St. Jude Hospital for Children was established with money that Dianne collected from families and individuals in her community.
