Donald Marshall Obituary

Donald A. Marshall,90, a cherished husband, loving stepfather, and doting grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the RI Hospital in Providence, RI, just shy of his 91st birthday . Born on May 20, 1934, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Donald lived a life marked by adventure, generosity, and spirited joy. He was the beloved husband of Elsie "Cookie" (Murray) Marshall, with whom he shared over 45 years of unwavering love and companionship.

Donald was the son of the late John and Thelma (Chatterton) Marshall. His warm presence and boundless energy will be deeply missed by his stepchildren, John Medeiros of New Orleans, LA, formerly of Riverside  and Tammy Irving, along with her husband Kevin of Riverside. Known affectionately as the grandfather who kept the light of fun and laughter burning bright, Donald leaves behind his cherished grandson, Johnny "Keep my allowance" Irving, who will hold onto the countless joyful memories they created together.

For many years, Donald dedicated himself to caring for others as a certified nursing assistant at the Roberts Health Care Center in North Kingstown. His compassionate nature and unwavering work ethic made a lasting impact on both his colleagues and the many lives he touched throughout his career. After living in North Kingstown, Donald spent his last 13 years in Riverside, where he became a well-loved member of the community.

Donald's zest for life was evident in his varied interests and pursuits. A man of many talents and hobbies, he held a private pilot's license, an achievement that spoke to his adventurous spirit and love for the skies. When he wasn't soaring above the clouds, Donald could be found on the water, where he enjoyed boating and cruising, embracing the serenity and freedom that the open sea provided.

On land, Donald was known for his love of reading, which allowed him to explore worlds beyond his immediate surroundings. His passion for playing golf was another testament to his love for outdoor activities, and it was on the greens where he often shared laughter and friendly competition with friends. Donald's love for travel took him to many places, both near and far, and those who knew him were always eager to hear the stories of his latest adventures.

Donald's legacy is one of a life well-lived and fully embraced. His adventurous nature inspired many to seek out their own passions, while his generosity and spirited personality enriched the lives of those around him. Donald's absence will be felt deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, but his spirit will continue to live on through the countless memories he leaves behind.

As we bid farewell to Donald A. Marshall, we celebrate a life that exemplified the very best of what it means to live fully and love deeply. His journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the impact of his presence will be felt for generations to come. Donald's story is one of joy, care, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye, but with profound gratitude for having been part of his remarkable life.

His funeral services will be private.
