East Providence - Edwin F. Medeiros, affectionately known as Ed to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 96 at the Senator Bob Hooper House, Forest Hill, Maryland. Born on March 25, 1929, in Providence, Rhode Island, Ed was a man whose life was marked by dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a love for the simple pleasures in life.
Ed was the beloved husband of the late Nellie (Fragala) Medeiros, with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. He was the cherished son of the late Laureano and Mary (Macedo) Medeiros, and a caring brother to the late Norbert Medeiros. His legacy continues through his daughter, Mary Anne Medeiros-White and her husband Michael of Havre De Grace, Maryland, his nephew John Medeiros of Exeter, and his niece Arlene Stryshak.
Ed's role as a patriarch extended to his adoring grandchildren, David MacNeill and his wife Romina, and Rachel Rawlings and her husband Matthew, Jacob White and Zachary White. His joy multiplied with the birth of his great-grandchildren, Madison MacNeill, Lachlan MacNeill, London Porter, Matthew Rawlings, Jr., Rebekah Rawlings, and Keira Rawlings, who all brought him immeasurable happiness.
For over 35 years, Ed was a respected Superintendent in the Painting Department of the Day O Lite Manufacturing. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity and diligence. Ed's professional life was paralleled by his involvement in his community; he was a devoted parishioner of St. Martha's Church and contributed to the fabric of the community in East Providence where he lived for many years before moving to Havre De Grace, Maryland.
A sports enthusiast, Ed's love for the game was only matched by his passion for fishing, which provided him with countless hours of serenity and joy. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through when he became the owner of a TTY Service for the deaf, demonstrating his commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Ed will be remembered as a loving, kind, and handy man, always ready to lend a helping hand or share his expertise. His warm smile and generous spirit were his trademarks, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we bid farewell to Edwin F. Medeiros, we celebrate a life well-lived and honor a man who was the embodiment of love, kindness, and resilience. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he left behind, and his influence will continue to resonate for generations to come.
