Pawtucket - Elaine A. (Hemond) Perry, a treasured soul, passed away peacefully at her home in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on January 10, 1947, a lifelong resident of the city, Elaine's journey was one marked by devotion to her family and a legacy of kindness.
Elaine was the beloved daughter of the late Leo B. and Beatrice C. (Fortin) Hemond. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her children, Deborah Perry-Tacovelli and her wife Jerrilyn "Lyn" Tacovelli of Somerset, MA, Joseph H. Perry III and his fiancé Connie Medeiros of East Providence, and Kristyn Perry and her husband Fernando Montepeque of Pawtucket, with whom she lived.
Elaine was a sister to Suzanne Lizotte and her husband Warren of Shaftsbury, VT, Joseph Hemond of Georgia, Shelley Crosby of Warwick, her brother-in-law Louis Costa of Manville and her late sisters, Paulette Trojan and Laraine Costa. Her warm heart and nurturing spirit extended to her role as a doting grandmother to Gregory, Alyssa, Katie, Vanessa, Christopher, Kelsey, Matthew, and Lauren, and as a proud great-grandmother to twelve wonderful great-grandchildren.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. Elaine was a single mother who worked many jobs over the years to support her three young children, oftentimes holding two jobs to make ends meet. She worked for Hasbro Toy Company and in the jewelry industry before serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the former Memorial Hospital for over 15 years later in life.
Her work ethic was a testament to her character. Elaine was an individual of many interests. She was an avid reader, often found with a book in hand. She enjoyed gardening, attending art festivals, exploring gift shops, and cooking. She loved visiting her sister and brother-in-law in Vermont and going to the Cape with her daughters. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandchildren who she valued the most, cherishing every moment and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Described by those who knew her, Elaine was a quiet and humble person, who was known to be loving, kind and generous. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but the memories she created will continue to inspire and comfort her loved ones. Elaine touched countless lives with the unwavering love she shared. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary and strong woman, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity. Elaine A. (Hemond) Perry will be profoundly missed, yet her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
