Elizabeth Cabral Obituary

Seekonk - Elizabeth Ann (Barboza) Cabral, 84, known affectionately as Izzy to her friends and loved ones, departed this world on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Hope Hospice in Providence, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and selflessness. Born on July 9, 1940, in Warren, Rhode Island, to the late Joseph and Mary (DaPonte) Barboza, Izzy's life was a tapestry of familial devotion and artistic passion.

Izzy's journey through life was shared with her beloved husband, Norbert M. Cabral, to whom she was married for over 65 years. Their enduring partnership was a testament to unwavering love and mutual support. She was a cherished mother to Dean Cabral and his partner Darren Ostmeyer of Pawtucket, Norbert Cabral, Jr. of Seekonk, and Edward Barboza of Warwick. Her brother Joseph Barboza of Cranston, sister Virginia Delagardo of North Carolina, and Dorothy Nelson of Warwick will hold dear the memories of their sister's vibrant spirit. She was preceded in death by her sisters Ann D'Allessandro, Maryann Silva, and Lorraine Barboza.

Izzy's family circle extended to include many adoring nieces and nephews, who will miss her guiding presence. She was a doting grandmother to Jennifer Colitti of Cumberland and Kerri Barboza of Pawtucket, and a loving great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren. Each of them was a joy in her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

For over 27 years, Izzy was a proud resident of Seekonk, having moved from Cranston. She brought beauty into the world through her work as a freelance painter for Bagian Jewelers. There, she specialized in painting delicate roses on costume jewelry, a craft which she excelled, and which brought joy to many.

Izzy's interests were as varied as they were fulfilling. She had a passion for reading, which allowed her to explore worlds beyond her own. Her garden was a haven of tranquility and a showcase of her nurturing touch. Cooking was another joy, and her kitchen was the heart of the home where family and friends gathered to savor her delicious meals. Travel opened new horizons for her, but it was the time spent with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren that she valued above all.

Those who knew Izzy would describe her as the epitome of love, generosity, and selflessness. She had an innate ability to make everyone around her feel special and cared for. Her giving nature knew no bounds, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

As we bid farewell to Elizabeth Ann (Barboza) Cabral, we celebrate a life lived with fullness and grace. Izzy's memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her love and lessons will endure in the hearts of her family and friends, and the beauty she created will remain a lasting tribute to her remarkable spirit. Though she has left this earthly realm, her legacy will forever bloom like the roses she so lovingly painted, eternally bright and beautiful.
