Barrington - Elsie M. (Campiz) Madera,74., a loving and vibrant soul, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on February 12, 1949, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, she was the cherished daughter of the late Rafael and Ana (Cruz) Campiz. Elsie's life was characterized by her generous spirit, her delightful sense of humor, and her unwavering love for her family.
Elsie was the proud and devoted mother of Ralph Madera and his wife, Karisa, of Del Rio, Texas; Ruben Madera of Waterbury, Ct.; Sylvia Howard and her husband, Rob, of East Providence; and Lenore Hutter of Florida. She was a loving sister to Louis Campiz of Florida and her cousin Lucy Romero of NY. Elsie was predeceased by her siblings Papo Campiz, Vickie Martinez, and Helen Campiz. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren Samantha, Lacey, Lina, Jenna, Alyssa, Jake, Ryan, Angelina, Tyler, Sasha, and Victoria, as well as her five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Elsie was a hard worker, who had many different jobs over the course of her life, often as a secretary or office manager, to provide for her family.
Over the years, Elsie lived in various places, including Barrington, where she resided for two years, East Providence, and New York. She embraced the beauty of each location, cultivating lush gardens that reflected her love for nature. Elsie was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for Stephen King novels and other thrilling tales that captivated her imagination. She could often be found engrossed in a book, her keen mind always eager for a new adventure.
Her interests were diverse and engaging, from assembling intricate jigsaw puzzles to playing lively rounds of bingo, cards, and dominoes. Elsie was also an enthusiastic traveler, her excursions serving as an extension of the curiosity and zest for life that defined her. However, nothing brought her more joy than spending quality time with her family, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Elsie M. (Campiz) Madera will be remembered for her loving nature, her generous heart, and her infectious humor. Her life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and generosity. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to call her family. Her memory will be treasured, her life celebrated, and her legacy will live on in the lives of those she loved.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday September 23, 2023, from 12:00pm- 1:30pm in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence.
