Felipe Tavares Vieira

Felipe T. Vieira, age 79, of Seekonk, MA passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at his home. He was the husband of Maria Natalia (Lopes) Vieira, to whom he was married for over 54 years.

Felipe was born in Rabo de Peixe, Sao Miguel, Azores. He was the son of the late Antonio Sebastiao and Albertina Berta (Tavares) Vieira. After leaving the Azores in 1969, he moved and lived in Bermuda for 12 years before coming to the United States in 1981. Felipe was an entrepreneur, owning his own commercial cleaning service, Star Cleaning Inc. He was one of the founding members of Amigos de Rabo de Peixe, as well as a founding member of the Irmandade de Senhor Bom Jesus.  He was the Mordomo for the Irmandade de Senhor Bom Jesus in both 2012 and this year into 2025.  He was also a member of the Holy Ghost Brotherhood of Charity in Rehoboth and was Mordomo there twice as well.  He was an active member of other social and charitable organizations in the Portuguese community. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.

Besides his wife and predeceased daughter Nancy M. Vieira, he leaves four children. Michael and his wife Kathryn, Nancy F. Vieira, Brian and his wife Jennifer, Monica and her husband Steve. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Gavin Roberts, Jarred Vieira, Dillon Vieira, Sophia Vieira, Brianna Vieira, Bentley Martins and Ava Martins.  

He leaves 2 brothers and 5 sisters: Odete Alberto, Fatima Leitao, Silvana Paiva, Maria Jose Albano, Afonso Vieira, Emanuela Galvao and Manuel Francisco Vieira.  He was the late brother of Jose Vieira and Antonio Vieira. He also leaves 43 nieces and nephews and many other relatives.

His kindness, loyalty and warmth made him a true friend who touched the lives of so many.  Whether through his humor, his thoughtfulness, or his passion for helping others, he always brought light into the lives of others.  His love for his family was immeasurable.  He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and listening to and watching Benfica.  He had an unwavering passion for the Holy Ghost and traditions. 

His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 9:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence.

Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the Rebello Funeral Home.
