Francelina A. (de Braga) Braga

Francelina A. Braga, 87, of East Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Eastgate Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in East Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Batista Braga, who predeceased her in 1992.

Born on April 21, 1937, in Amagreira, Santa Maria, Azores, Francelina was the cherished daughter of Joaquim Coelho de Braga and Maria de Virginia (de Moura). In 1970, she emigrated to the United States, settling in East Providence, where she created a life filled with faith, family, and love.

Francelina worked for many years as an assembler and inspector at Imperial Pearl until her retirement. A devout Catholic, she was a longtime communicant of Saint Francis Xavier Church in East Providence and an active participant at the East Providence Senior Center.

She was a gifted gardener who loved propagating hydrangeas and tending to her houseplants, starting her days by caring for her beloved greenery. An exceptional cook and baker, she was known for always having brownies and chocolate chip cookies ready for her grandchildren, whom she helped raise while their parents worked. Her sage-like advice and unwavering presence were sources of comfort and guidance for her entire family.

Francelina is survived by her devoted children: Annabella Ramer and her husband Barry of Rehoboth, Joseph Braga and his wife Teresa of Rehoboth, and Dennis B. Braga of East Providence. She was predeceased by her daughter, Noémia "Norma" Mederios.

She leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Haley, Andria, Hannah, Corinne, Mylee, and her great-granddaughter Asia. Francelina is also survived by her sister-in-law, Maria Jose Braga, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Maria de Jesus, Helena de Rosario, and Jose de Nascimento.

Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend Francelina’s funeral on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 9:00 AM from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
