Frances Medeiros Obituary

PAWTUCKET – Frances (Kilroy) Medeiros, 88, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in hospice care in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward B. Medeiros, Sr.

Born in East Providence on July 11, 1937, she was the loving daughter of the late Lester Day Kilroy and Mary (Amaral) Kilroy. Frances was a graduate of East Providence High School, where she was a proud member of the marching band, playing the flute. She especially enjoyed her time in the band because it brought her to many places throughout New England.

Frances worked her entire career at St. Joseph’s/Fatima Hospital, where she formed lifelong friendships. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, and she delighted in cooking all their favorite meals whenever they came to visit. A woman who cherished adventure, she traveled across America twice, explored Europe, and enjoyed several cruises.

She was also a talented artist who especially loved oil painting scenic landscapes. It was through her art classes that she met her late husband, Ed “Buddy.” Thoughtful, kind, and wise, Frances touched everyone she met. She embraced life fully, and she faced her final days with courage, sincerity, and words of encouragement to her family. She loved her sons and her family deeply, and her bright smile will be remembered always.

She leaves behind many who loved her and will be reunited with those who passed before her, including her beloved pets.

Frances is survived by her sister, Anne (Kilroy) Carey, and was predeceased by her brother-in-law, the late Billi H. Carey of Bristol. She was the devoted mother of Steven Masterson and his wife Barbara of Taunton, MA; Kerry Masterson and his wife Magda of Sarasota, FL; Joseph Masterson and his wife Sherri of Talent, OR; and Robert Masterson and his wife Clina of West Warwick, RI. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews, her stepchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and many cherished lifelong friends.

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited, will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, beginning with visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 7:00 PM immediately following the visitation. Interment in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery in Pawtucket will be private at a later date.
