Providence - George Manuel Amaral, 76, of Providence affectionately known as George, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 26, 2024, at the Heritage Hills Nursing Home in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Born in Pico, Azores on April 23, 1948, to the late Manuel Rodrigues Amaral and Senhorinha DaGloria (Vargas) Amaral, George was a treasured member of the community, known for his loving, kind, and gentle nature. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ann (Vasques) Amaral, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring love story.
George's legacy is carried on by his devoted sons, Dennis Amaral of Warwick and Brian Amaral of Providence, and he was predeceased by his son George M. Amaral, Jr. His memory will also be cherished by his brother Victor Amaral of Bristol, his sister Maria Lima of Pawtucket, and he was predeceased by his siblings Eduino Amaral, Ascencao Santos, and Mary Jones. George was a proud and adoring grandfather to Tyler, Victoria, Ryan, and Dominic Amaral, and he held a special place in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews.
For over 35 years, George was a respected machine operator at the Rhode Island Textile Company, where his diligence and strong work ethic were well known. He also served the community through his tenure at the Stop and Shop Store in Providence, where his warm smile and helpful nature were a comfort to all who knew him.
George's presence was a gift to those around him, and his impact was felt far beyond his immediate family. His dedication to his work and the love he had for his family were the cornerstones of a life well-lived. George's kindness extended to all aspects of his life, and his gentle spirit was a beacon of light for those fortunate enough to cross his path.

His funeral will be held on Friday June 28, 2024, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
