Coventry - Helen G. (Joseph) Quinn, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the age of 79 in the Greenwood Center, Warwick. Born on February 24, 1946, in Providence, Rhode Island, The daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Andrews) Joseph. Helen's life was a tapestry woven with joy, passion, and an unwavering dedication to her loved ones and community.
Affectionately known as Helen to her friends and family, she was a devoted wife to the late James Quinn and a loving partner to Carl Mattson of Coventry. Her legacy as a caring mother is carried on by her children, James Quinn and his wife Theresa of Wallingford, Connecticut, Lisa Serio and her husband Richard of Riverside, Kimberly Hicks and her husband Gene of North Carolina, and Helen Tiernan and her husband James of Coventry. Helen's warmth extended to her role as a sister to Thomas Joseph of East Providence and the late Robert Joseph. She was a cherished grandmother to eight and a proud great-grandmother to five, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Helen's professional career was marked by her compassionate spirit as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Roger Williams Hospital, where she provided comfort and care to countless individuals over the years. Her dedication to her work was a testament to her innate desire to help others and make a positive impact on the world around her.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Helen's vibrant personality shone through her many interests and hobbies. She was a talented singer with the Sweet Adelines, harmonizing with voices that brought both music and community together. Her love for sports was evident in her enthusiasm for playing golf and volleyball, activities that she not only excelled in but also used as opportunities to forge lasting friendships and memories. Traveling was another of Helen's passions, as she relished the chance to explore new places and experience different cultures with her family and friends.
Above all, Helen will be remembered as a woman who lived her life with a loving heart and a sense of humor that could light up any room. Her passion for life was infectious, and she had a unique ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of everyday moments. Whether she was spending time with her grandchildren, hitting a perfect drive on the golf course, or belting out a tune with her fellow chorus members, Helen embraced every experience with enthusiasm and grace.
As we bid farewell to Helen G. (Joseph) Quinn, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a life brimming with laughter, love, and an unwavering passion for the people and activities that brought her happiness. Her spirit, her laughter, and her love will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. Helen's memory will be cherished and honored, as she leaves behind a legacy of joy and caring that will never be forgotten.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, February 6,2026 at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Avenue, East Providence, RI. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00pm-7:00pm in the funeral home.
