Providence - Helen M. (De Simas) Sousa,83, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated member of her community, passed away peacefully on Thursday ,July 4, 2024, at Hope Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on February 28, 1941, in Sao Caetano, Pico, Azores, Helen was the loving daughter of the late Pompeu Moniz Furtado De Simas and Maria Da Gloria Simas. She brought warmth and light into the lives of all who knew her, and she will be profoundly missed.

Helen's journey led her from the beautiful Azores to the vibrant community of Providence, where she established her life and flourished, she has lived in the Providence area for 57 years . A devoted mother, she raised her son, Mark Sousa of Aurora, Colorado, instilling in him the values of love, kindness, and faith that she held so dear. Her legacy continued to grow with her adoring grandchildren, Mason Sousa, Tyler, and Matthew, and she was overjoyed to become a great-grandmother to Dominique. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and the moments they shared will forever be treasured.

Professionally, Helen dedicated many years of service as a jewelry worker for Monet Jewelry Company before her well-deserved retirement. Her craftsmanship and attention to detail were a testament to her strong work ethic and her commitment to excellence in everything she undertook.

Beyond her professional life, Helen was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Her faith was a guiding force, evident in her involvement with the Holy Ghost Society, where she contributed her time and energy with unwavering devotion. Helen's faith was not just a part of her life; it was a part of her essence, and it shone through in her every action.
