Hermano DaSilva Pereira,80, of Pawtucket, known affectionately by friends and family as Hermano, passed away unexpectedly on Friday June 14, 2024, at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on August 20, 1943, in the scenic village of Relva, Sao Miguel Azores, Portugal, he was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend who brought joy and love to all who knew him.
Hermano was the beloved husband of Dorvalina (Botelho) Pereira, and their loving marriage spanned over 54 years. He was a devoted father to Susana Pereira of Pawtucket. Herman D. Pereira, Jr. and his wife Melissa of Barrington, and to His warmth and wisdom will be greatly missed by his granddaughter, Olivia Pereira, who was the light of his life. Hermano was predeceased by his parents, Manuel and Conceicao (Silva) Pereira, his brother Jose Francisco Pereira, and his sister Legia Melo. His memory will be cherished by his many nieces and nephews who adored their kind uncle.
For over five decades, Hermano dedicated himself as a machine operator at Union Wadding Company among various other companies, displaying an unmatched work ethic and commitment to his craft. His dedication to his work was paralleled only by his commitment to his faith and community. As a devout parishioner of St. Anthony Church in Pawtucket, he was deeply involved in church activities. Hermano was one of the original founders of the Espirito Santo for St. Anthony Church in 1974, a testament to his enduring faith and service. He also shared his love for music as an associate member of the St. Anthony Church Band, Nova Alianca.
Beyond his work and community involvement, Hermano found peace and pleasure in the simplicity of gardening, nurturing the earth and tending to his plants with a tender hand. He was also an avid reader, always eager to explore new worlds and ideas within the pages of a book. These quiet moments of reflection and care were a true reflection of Hermano's inner nature.
Those who knew Hermano will remember him as a loving, kind, and faith-filled man. His gentle spirit and compassionate demeanor were a comfort to everyone around him. Hermano's life was a living example of the principles he held dear – love for his family, dedication to his work, and an unwavering faith that guided his every action.
Hermano's journey through life was marked by the same grace and dignity that he carried in his heart. His legacy will continue to inspire those he left behind, as they remember a man whose love knew no bounds and whose life was a testament to the power of kindness and faith.
As we bid farewell to Hermano DaSilva Pereira, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a soul eternally cherished. His memory will be held in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will continue to guide us in the paths of compassion and love that he walked so gracefully.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Anthony Church, 32 Lawn Avenue, Pawtucket.
Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, 661 Prospect Street, Pawtucket, RI.
