Howard R. Bradley

Riverside - Howard R. Bradley, known to family and friends as Howard, passed away peacefully at his home in Riverside, Rhode Island, on Wednesday April 8, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on September 8, 1946, he was the son of the late Allen and Elsie (Duralt) Bradley. Howard lived a life marked by devotion to his family, a strong work ethic, and a warm spirit that touched all who knew him. He spent more than 50 years in Riverside after moving there from the Fox Point section of Providence, he was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church,  and he became a familiar and respected presence in the community he called home for much of his life.

Howard was the beloved husband of Maria (Tavares) Bradley, and together they shared more than 58 years of marriage filled with love, companionship, and family devotion. Their bond was the foundation of a beautiful life together, and he treasured the years they spent side by side. He was a loving father to Howard R. Bradley Jr. of Lincoln, Sandra Viscolosi of Riverside, and Lori Vargulish of Pawtucket. He was also a proud grandfather to Howard R. “Howie” Bradley III, Justin Viscolosi, Alex Vargulish, and Kasey Vargulish, and he was predeceased by his grandson Michael Viscolosi. Howard loved his children and grandchildren deeply, and they were among the greatest joys of his life.

He is also survived by his brothers, Russell Bradley of Rehoboth and Brian Bradley of East Providence, and his sister, Ellen Pelletier of Rumford. He was the brother of the late Kenneth Bradley, Allen Bradley, and Steven Bradley. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember his kindness, humor, and steady presence in their lives.

Howard worked as a truck driver for the Packing and Insulation Company for more than 29 years before retiring. He took pride in his work and was known for his reliability and dedication. His years on the road reflected the same commitment and responsibility that guided every part of his life. Those who knew him admired the way he carried himself with quiet strength and a dependable nature that could always be counted on.

Outside of work, Howard enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. He liked playing golf, doing yardwork, and going on vacation, but above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Whether gathered at home, sharing stories, or enjoying time together on special occasions, Howard found his greatest happiness in being surrounded by the people he loved. He had a loving, funny, and thoughtful personality, and those qualities made him especially dear to everyone around him.

Howard will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family, as well as for the warmth and humor he brought into everyday life. He lived with heart, generosity, and a deep appreciation for the moments that mattered most. His memory will remain a lasting comfort to those who knew and loved him, and his legacy will continue through the family he cherished so deeply.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 8:30am  from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by  a Mass of Christian Burial  at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
