James A. Prata, 73, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James G. And Violet J. (Chace) Prata. He was the devoted partner of David Cohn. He was predeceased by his daughter Jamie K. Prata. He leaves behind a daughter, Stacey B. Prata, a brother Robert D. Prata and his wife Gail. Two nieces, Kayla M. Prata and Elisha M. Prata. James was affectionately known as Jim to his family and friends.
Before retiring, Jim worked for over 30 years making custom boxes.
Jim was a member of Church of the Master in Providence, RI. He enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and helping with the youth group. Jim was a man of many passions and talents. He particularly enjoyed playing the organ and collecting antique dinnerware sets. One of his unique joys was finally completing a set with a rare piece through patience and diligence. In addition to dinnerware, Jim was an avid collector of holiday decor. He spent many hours decorating for Halloween, Christmas, and so many holidays throughout the year. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in their hearts forever.
