Jean Carol (Gomes) Cherry

Jean C. Cherry, 74, of Riverside, RI, a former resident of Mareno Valley, CA for many years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2023 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Cherry.

Born in Providence, RI on January 3, 1949, she was a loving daughter of the late Napoleon Gomes and Isabella (Silva) Gomes.

Jean’s predominant role in life was a wife and mother, lovingly making a home for her family.

She enjoyed playing cards, long drives, fireworks but her favorite times were those spent in the company of her adoring family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted daughter with whom she lived, Melissa Cherry of Riverside; and her cherished grandchildren Robert Cherry II of Maryland and Brianna Cherry and her companion Jamaine Patriquin of Virginia. She was the dear sister of Sandra Gomes and Cindy Gomes, both of East Providence; and Pedro Gomes of Kingstown, RI. She also leaves many nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.

She was the sister of the late Dennis Gomes.

Her memorial service, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, beginning with a time for visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. A prayer service and celebration of her life will be held in the funeral home at the conclusion of the visitation at 7:00 PM.
