Johanna Gilmore Obituary

East Providence - Johanna Elizabeth Gilmore, 48, affectionately known as Johanna to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on July 7, 1977, in New London, Connecticut, Johanna was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend who brought joy and warmth to all who knew her.

The daughter of the late Robert and Blanche (Stockley) Gilmore, Johanna inherited her parents' kindhearted nature and zest for life. Although she spent the last six years of her life in East Providence, coming from Pawtucket, RI, her spirit and love for her hometown remained a core part of her identity. She is survived by her half-brother Bobby Gilmore of Key West, Florida, and half-sister Patty Levesque of Asheville, NC, who will continue to honor her memory and the light she brought into their lives.

Johanna dedicated many years to the Operations Department of Citizens Bank, where she was valued for her meticulous work ethic, her ability to connect with her colleagues, and her unwavering reliability. Her professional life was a testament to her commitment to excellence and service, qualities that permeated every aspect of her life.

A passionate Boston Bruins fan, Johanna's enthusiasm for hockey was contagious. She could often be found cheering on her favorite team, a true testament to her loyalty and spirited nature. Her love for the game was matched only by her love for music and live performances. Johanna's enjoyment of traveling and attending concerts showcased her adventurous spirit and her appreciation for the arts.

Loving, kind, and friendly, Johanna was a beacon of positivity. She approached every situation with a smile and an open heart, ready to offer support or a listening ear to anyone in need. Her presence was comfort and her laughter a melody that will echo in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Johanna's life was a beautiful mosaic of the people she loved, the places she explored, and the experiences she savored. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness, friendship, and love will endure in the hearts of all who were touched by her grace.

As the sun sets on a life so vibrantly lived, we say goodbye to Johanna Elizabeth Gilmore, a woman whose life was a testament to the beauty of a kind soul and the enduring power of a generous heart. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light for all who were blessed to know her.

Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.  Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, would be appreciated.
