SEEKONK - John S. Provazza, 93, a lifelong resident of Seekonk, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30th, 2024, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna (DeSilva) Provazza, who passed away in 2003.
Born on December 27, 1930, in Seekonk, MA, John was the loving son of the late Antonio and Faith (Pizimento) Provazza. He grew up in Seekonk, attended local schools, and went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Air National Guard.
John was employed for many years as a custodian for the Town of Seekonk's school department until his retirement. Before that, he worked as an assemblyman for BIF for approximately thirty years. His work ethic and dedication were exemplary and left a lasting impact on all who worked with him.
A man of strong Catholic faith, John was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Seekonk. His faith guided him throughout his life and was evident in his acts of kindness and his commitment to his community.
John had a love for coaching and sports. He took great pride in coaching baseball for his sons during their younger years and was also an avid golfer. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He cherished the moments spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
John is survived by his two sons: Gary Provazza and his wife Lucille of Seekonk, and Robert Provazza and his wife Kimberly of Seekonk. He leaves behind his five cherished grandchildren: Sarah, Rachel, Kaitlyn, Ryan, and Jessica; and his two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Logan. He was the dear brother of Anthony Provazza of Seekonk. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his son John Provazza, Jr.; his siblings Annunzio Provazza and his wife Fannie, Clare Provazza, and Grace Provazza; and his sister-in-law Lillian Provazza.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his funeral services. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 984 Taunton Avenue, Seekonk, celebrated by Reverend Bernard Lavin. Interment will take place at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, 661 Prospect Street, Pawtucket.
