Pawtucket -John "Jack" DeMendonca passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023, at Hope Hospice in Providence, RI. Born on December 21, 1944, in Providence, Jack lived a life marked by adventure, optimism, and passion.
Jack was the beloved father of Evan M. DeMendonca of Pawtucket, RI, and Lucas DeMendonca of East Providence. He was the caring brother of Jesse DeMendonca of East Providence, Sandra Gaines of Riverside, and Cynthia Bouley of Fairhaven, MA. Jack was also the longtime companion of the late Geri Iadevaia, whose companionship he cherished deeply.
Jack demonstrated his devotion to his country through his service in the US Army and The United States Marine Corps. His patriotism was a source of pride and an inspiration to those who knew him. After his military service, Jack worked for many years as a dispatcher for the Providence Gas Company. His dedication and expertise in his role were recognized by his colleagues and superiors, contributing significantly to the company's success.
Known for his adventurous spirit, Jack was passionate about country dancing, a hobby that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He was also an avid swimmer, a pastime that kept him active and fit throughout his life. Jack enjoyed camping and traveling, always eager to explore new places and experience different cultures. His love for vacations was not just about visiting new places but also about the adventures and the memories he made along the way.
Jack's optimistic outlook on life was infectious. He always saw the brighter side of things and encouraged others to do the same. His positive energy was a beacon of light to those around him, making him a joy to be around. Jack was also passionate about everything he did. Whether it was his work, his hobbies, or his relationships, he put his heart and soul into it, inspiring others with his dedication and commitment.
Jack will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his optimistic outlook on life, and his passionate approach to everything he did. He lived a full and vibrant life, touching the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering positivity. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his loved ones.

A funeral service for Jack will be held on Saturday July 22, 2023, at 11:00am in the chapel of the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 302 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
Burial with Military Honors will follow.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Those wishing to attend his services, the funeral procession will be held at 10:15am on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, going to the cemetery.
