Jose E. Goulart

Spring Hill, FL - Jose E. Goulart, 79, of Spring Hill, FL, formerly of Rumford, RI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth M. (Carvalho) Goulart. Born in Faial, Azores, on August 25, 1944, he was a devoted son of the late Serafin and Maria (Moitoso) Goulart.

Jose spent his early years in the Azores before moving to the United States, where he settled in Rhode Island with his family and attended Central Falls High School. A dedicated entrepreneur, he owned Warren Bakery in Warren, RI, and Elizabeth's Family Restaurant in East Providence. Alongside his businesses, Jose also worked as a truck driver for Garelick Farms, embodying an exceptional work ethic throughout his life.

Outside of work, Jose had a passion for maintaining his yard, which was often praised for its pristine condition. He gained local recognition for his spectacular Christmas light displays, which were featured in the newspaper. An avid fisherman and collector of miniature train sets, Jose also enjoyed watching the television program NCIS. He was a loving dog dad to his husky, Blue, and his greatest joy was spending time with his adoring family at the wonderful gatherings they shared.

In addition to his beloved wife, Elizabeth, Jose is survived by his devoted children: Joseph Goulart and his wife Maria of Spring Hill, FL, and Lisa Goulart of Rumford. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughters: Nichole Alexopoulos, Samantha Goulart, and Kayla Goulart. Jose was the dear brother of Fred Goulart and his wife Betty of Pawtucket.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his funeral on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 9:00 AM from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
