Joseph Amaral Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Amaral, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the age of 96, at the Golden Crest Nursing Center. Born in East Providence, Rhode Island, on February 20, 1928, Joe was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Mary (Costa) Amaral and grew up to be a man of immense kindness and faith.

Joe spent his entire life in East Providence, where he was a devout parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII. His strong work ethic was evident throughout his career, as he dedicated many years of service as a Foreman at the Imperial Knife Company. Following his tenure there, he continued to contribute to his community by working for the City of East Providence in the parks department for a decade.

Joe's life was a testament to love and commitment, as he was the devoted husband of Jeanette (Paparelli) Amaral. Together they raised a loving family, including their son David J. Amaral and his wife Linda of Riverside, and their daughter Donna Bagdasarian and her husband Robert of Barrington. He was also the father of the late Sr. Joyce Amaral, S.S.D. Joe's legacy of love extends to his grandchildren, Daniel Amaral, Kristen Amaral, and Adam Bagdasarian, who will carry forward the memories of their grandfather's gentle spirit and life lessons. He was predeceased by his sister, the late Helen Camille, and is remembered as a brother whose presence was a source of comfort and joy.

Joe's passion for life was evident in his many interests. As a young man, he proudly served as a drum major for the East Providence High School band, a role that showcased his leadership and musical talents. His love for music was matched by his enjoyment of the outdoors, whether he was playing a round of golf, fishing in the tranquility of nature, or engaging in a friendly game of cards. These activities were more than hobbies; they were the avenues through which Joe connected with friends and family, creating cherished memories along the way.

Those who knew Joe would describe him as a loving and kind man, whose faith-filled life was an inspiration to all. He approached each day with a positive outlook and a generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His presence was a source of stability and warmth, and he will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to Joseph Amaral, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, service, and unwavering faith. Joe's journey on earth may have come to a close, but his spirit will continue to light the way for his family and friends. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love he gave so freely.

May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy will continue to flourish through the lives of those he touched.
