North Providence – Joseph R. Coelho, Jr.,74 of North Providence, passed away on Sunday June 11,2023, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital.
He was the husband of Karen (DiCicco) Coelho, they have been married for over 52 years.
He was born in Providence a son of the late Joseph R. and Evelyn (Rose) Coelho, Sr.
Joseph was a truck driver for the former Almac’s Grocery Stores and for the U.S. Postal Services, for many years before retiring.
Mr. Coelho has lived in North Providence since 1978 coming from East Providence, he was a former parishioner of Mary Mother of Mankind Church, North Providence.
He was a member of the Matadors Drum and Bugle Corps, he enjoyed playing cards, with friends and family, and he also liked going to the casino.
He was retired from the Teamsters Local 251, and the US Postal Service.
Joseph was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Corporal, during the Vietnam War.
He had a deep love for his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Besides his wife he is survived by his son David P. Coelho and his wife Julie of North Providence.
Mr. Coelho was the grandfather of Joey, Jason, Luca, and Aria Bella.
He was the uncle of Michael Coelho, of East Providence.
Mr. Coelho was the father of the late Joseph R. Coelho, III and the brother of the late Michael Coelho.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, 661 Prospect Street, Pawtucket.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Friday from 4:00pm- 7:00pm at the funeral home.
