Karen Flowers Obituary

Rumford - Karen J. (Sardinha) Flowers, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 26, 2024, at AccentCare Hospice in Milton, MA, at the age of 55. Born on March 19, 1969, in Providence, RI, Karen's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her kind-hearted spirit.

Karen was the daughter of the late George R. and Helene M. (Turner) Sardinha. Her warmth and love extended to her own family as she became the wife of Brian Flowers. Their marriage spanned over 26 years, filled with shared moments and mutual passions. The proud mother of Alex and Luke Flowers, both of Rumford, always present and involved in her children's lives.

In addition to her immediate family, Karen is survived by her siblings, Robert "Bob" Sardinha of Fall River, MA, and Kathy Segui of Silver Hill, Alabama. Her nieces and nephews, to whom she was a cherished aunt, will also hold her memory dear.

Karen's educational achievements were marked by her earning a bachelor’s degree in business from Roger Williams University. A resident of Rumford since 1997, after moving from Bristol, RI, and Beaufort, North Carolina, Karen was also a parishioner of St. Margaret Church.

Her love for life was apparent in her varied interests and the simple pleasures she enjoyed. Camping trips were a source of joy and family bonding, as were the game nights that brought laughter and competition into their home. Karen was a fan of the TV show Supernatural and an avid reader.

Music and live performances were among Karen's experiences, with concerts by Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw and Page & Plant. She was a Boston Red Sox fan and she shared many moments cheering for her team. An animal lover at heart, Karen's compassionate nature shone through her rescue of several dogs over the years, providing them with a loving home and a new lease on life.

Together with her husband Brian, Karen delighted in lighthouse cruises, exploring the beauty and history of these coastal beacons.

Karen's role as a stay-at-home mom was where she found much fulfillment. She was a constant figure at their events, offering encouragement and celebrating their achievements, big and small.

Karen J. Flowers will be remembered for her kind soul, her laughter, and the love she poured into her life. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her memory will be a guiding light for her family, much like the lighthouses she so admired. Though she will be greatly missed, the impact of her love and dedication will be felt.
