Laurie DiPietro-McMahon Obituary

North Providence - Laurie (Sousa) DiPietro-McMahon, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, at Fatima Hospital in North Providence, Rhode Island. Born on May 17, 1959, in Providence, she was a beacon of love and creativity throughout her 66 years.

Laurie was the cherished wife of Raymond McMahon, with whom she shared 35 beautiful years. Their love story was one of mutual admiration and deep respect, with Raymond fondly calling her "Lucy," a testament to the light she brought into his life. She was a loving mother to Jason DiPietro and his wife Erica, and the late David DiPietro Jr. Her role as a stepmother to Raymond McMahon, Jr., Joseph McMahon, Jason McMahon Hannan, and Melissa McMahon was marked by her generous spirit and open heart.

The daughter of the late Walter L. and Lorraine (Rebello) Sousa, Sr., Laurie was a supportive sister to Walter Sousa Jr. and his wife Donna, and Cathi-Jo Finnerty. She embraced her role as a grandmother with joy, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren Dylan, Jonathon, Madison, Angelea, and her great-granddaughter Isabella. She was the Godmother to the late Lauren Finnerty.

Laurie's professional journey in the insurance industry was marked by dedication and excellence. Starting as a claims adjuster, she rose through the ranks to become a manager at AAA, where she was respected for her leadership and problem-solving abilities.

Her creativity knew no bounds. Laurie was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, and crocheter, self-taught in each of these arts. Her home was a testament to her talents, filled with handmade items that were not just decor but symbols of her love and care. She had a knack for making the most out of everything, a thrifty and wonderfully crafty soul who could transform the ordinary into something beautiful.

Above all, Laurie's passion was her family. She was the embodiment of loyalty and unconditional love, and her home was a sanctuary for all—people and pets alike. Her role as a "fur mama" to her beloved LuLu was a source of immense joy and companionship.

Known for her selflessness and a heart of gold, Laurie often put the needs of others before her own. Her kindness was a comfort to many, and she was the person her loved ones could always count on, no matter the circumstance. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and creativity, qualities that will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Laurie  DiPietro-McMahon's memory will be held dearly in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her gracious spirit. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the beauty of giving, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
