Leonilde Rodrigues Pavao Cabral

Leonilde Rodrigues Pavao Cabral, affectionately known as Leonilde to her loved ones, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Portugal. Born on January 31,1936, in Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores, Leonilde was a beacon of love and faith throughout her 89 years of life.

Leonilde was the beloved wife of the late Jose Maria Cabral and the cherished daughter of the late Manuel Rodrigues Pavao and Maria Jose De Medeiros (Sousa) Pavao. She was a devoted mother to Jose Cabral and his wife Lucia of Pawtucket, Paulo Cabral of Cumberland, and she carried the loving memory of her late daughter Rita Cabral Orlowski in her heart. As the sister of the late Evaristo, Luiz, Tiago Pavao, and Maria Helena Fernandes, Leonilde's familial bonds were a testament to her nurturing spirit. She was an adored grandmother to Jason, Andrew, Mitchell, and Hurricayne, and her legacy continues through the many nieces and nephews who survive her.

Leonilde's industrious nature was evident in her longstanding career as a machine operator in the braiding department of Hope Webbing. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her faith community as a former parishioner of St. Anthony Church in Pawtucket. Those who knew Leonilde will remember her as a loving and kind soul, whose faith-filled life was a source of inspiration to all.

Throughout her years, Leonilde's presence was a warm and comforting light to those around her. Her unwavering kindness and loving demeanor were the hallmarks of her character, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Leonilde's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of faith.

As we bid farewell to Leonilde Rodrigues Pavao Cabral, we celebrate a life lived with grace, compassion, and an unshakeable belief in the goodness of others. Her memory will be treasured, and her spirit will continue to guide us. Leonilde's journey on this earth has ended, but her story will be recounted with affection and her lessons of love will endure for generations to come.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 12:00pm in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are MONDAY MORNING in the CHURCH, from 11:00am – 12:00pm.
