Liduina DeJesus (Terceira) Placido,93, affectionately known as Liduina to those who knew her best, passed away peacefully at her home in East Providence on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Born on April 20, 1931, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Liduina lived a full and vibrant life characterized by her loving nature, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Liduina was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Placido Terceira and a cherished daughter of the late Jose Placido Terceira and Felicidade DeJesus (Rebello) Terceira. She was a devoted mother to her children: Jose Placido and his wife Maria J., Manuel and his wife Maria T. Placido, Irene Morrao and her late husband Virginio, Eduarda Cabral and her husband Pedro, and the late Humberta Moniz. She was also a treasured sister to the late Manuel Terceira Moniz, Alcerina Vieira, and Maria Del Carmo.
Her legacy extends to her adored grandchildren, of whom there are 14, and she was blessed to become a great-grandmother 28 times over and a great-great-grandmother to two. Liduina's extended family, including numerous nieces and nephews, will forever remember her warmth and guidance.
For over four decades, Liduina demonstrated her strong work ethic and dedication as a jewelry sprayer for the Gemcraft Company. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her commitment to her community and her faith. Having lived in East Providence for over 35 years after moving from Providence, she became an integral part of the local fabric.
An avid parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Liduina found great joy in her faith. She spent many hours in prayer, which provided her with comfort and strength throughout her life. Her faith was indeed the cornerstone of her existence, and it was reflected in the way she lived and how she treated others.
Liduina also had a passion for travel, exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating memories that she would fondly recount to her family and friends. Yet, it was the simple pleasure of spending time with her family that she cherished most. Her presence at family gatherings will be deeply missed, but the love and values she instilled in her family will continue to resonate for generations to come.
Those who knew Liduina will remember her as an embodiment of love and kindness. She had a gentle spirit that could light up a room and a compassionate heart that knew no bounds. Her faith-filled life was a true inspiration to everyone she met, and her memory will be held in the highest regard.
As we say goodbye to Liduina, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life full of love, joy, and unwavering faith. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her, and her spirit will continue to guide and comfort us.
