East Providence -Loretta A. (Grima) Ippolito, 84, of East Providence, known affectionately as Loretta to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2023, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. Born on September 27, 1939, Loretta's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith, her boundless kindness, and her devotion to her loved ones.
Loretta was the beloved wife of the late Vito Ippolito and cherished daughter of the late Phillip and Filomena (Polito)Grima. She was a loving mother to her son Philip Ippolito and his wife Maria of Seekonk. She also held a special place in her heart for her siblings: Gaetano and Phyllis Grima of Florida, Frank and Leslie Grima of New Hampshire, Philip Grima of Seekonk, Ann and Kenneth Mason of Seekonk, and remembered with love her late siblings Carmine Grima, Louise Abatecola, Filomena Barrette, and Theresa Anderson.
Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, and she adored her grandchildren, Philip Ippolito and Grace Ippolito. Loretta's family extended beyond her immediate kin, as she was also a cherished aunt, leaving behind many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her nurturing presence.
For many years, Loretta served the community of Seekonk as a dedicated School Bus Driver, safely transporting generations of children to and from school. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her reliability and her caring nature, making her a well-respected figure in the community.
A devout parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Seekonk, Loretta lived her faith every day. She was very religious, and she had a great devotion to God and her family, finding solace and strength in her beliefs. Loretta’s greatest joy was reading and ministering to everyone she came across. Her kindness was not confined to her prayers; she actively sought to help others, often extending a helping hand or a prayer for those in need, was her true life’s work. Her faith-filled life was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a true prayer warrior.
Loretta will be remembered as a loving and kind soul, whose presence was a source of comfort and joy to her family and friends. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and triumphs. The words that best describe Loretta are loving, kind, and faith-filled, truly embodying the spirit of those terms in her daily actions and interactions.
As we bid farewell to Loretta, we celebrate a life lived with grace, compassion, and love. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 16,2023 at 10:00am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 984 Taunton Avenue, Seekonk, MA. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
