Luis De Sousa Obituary

Luis A. De Sousa,64,  a loving and kind man known for his unwavering dedication to his family and his work, passed away on July 28, 2023, in Warwick, RI. Born on June 9, 1959, in Fenais Da Luz, Ponta Delgada, Azores, Luis was a man whose life was marked by hard work, devotion, and a deep love for those around him.

Luis was the beloved son of the late Manuel and Maria E. (Ferreira) De Sousa. He was a cherished husband to Rosa M. (Vieira) De Sousa, and a devoted father to his daughters, Melissa DeSousa of Warwick, and Courtney DeSousa of Coventry. He also extended his paternal love to his stepchildren, Beatriz Medeiros of Warwick, and Paulo Medeiros of Providence. His love for his family was not limited to his children, as he also was a loving brother to Agostinho F. DeSousa and Manuel Eduardo Sousa of East Providence. Luis's love was extended to his granddaughter, Kaelani DaSilva, who held a special place in his heart.

Luis was a dedicated worker, having served as a Mechanic for over 42 years for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA). His dedication and work ethic were admired by many, and his contributions were instrumental in keeping the public transit system running smoothly. His colleagues regarded him as an invaluable member of their team.

Living in Hope, RI, for 8 years after moving from Warwick, Luis was an active member of his community. He was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Providence, where he found solace and peace. His faith was an integral part of his life, providing him with guidance and strength throughout his journey.

Luis was an individual who embodied the words "loving" and "kind". His warmth was felt by all who knew him, and he was known for his ability to make others feel valued and loved. He was a beacon of kindness in his community, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. His loving nature extended beyond his family, as he was known to treat everyone he met as if they were family.

Luis's life was a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and love. His legacy will live on through his family, his work, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him, and his memory will forever be a source of inspiration and comfort.

May Luis A. De Sousa's soul rest in eternal peace, and may his life continue to serve as a beacon of love, kindness, and dedication. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
