Madeline (Perry) Rebello

EAST PROVIDENCE – Madeline Rebello, 100, a lifelong resident of East Providence, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Roger Williams Hospital in Providence surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of the late William Rebello, who passed away on March 23, 1992.

Born in East Providence, RI on October 9, 1922, she was a loving daughter of the late Joseph Perry, Sr. and Mary (Arruda) Perry.

Madeline was employed as a jewelry stringer at the former Coro, Inc. of Providence for many years before her retirement.

A devout Catholic, she was a longtime communicant of Saint Francis Xavier Church in East Providence.

She was recently given the key to the City of East Providence by Mayor Bob DaSilva to mark the occasion of her 100th birthday.

Madeline enjoyed taking trips to the casino, particularly Foxwoods, and liked to spend time knitting. However, her favorite times were those spent in the company of her adoring family, especially the regular Sunday get-togethers they would share.

She is survived by her devoted children: Dianna Machado of Rumford; William Rebello and his wife Eleanor of East Providence; Donald Rebello of Florida; and Cynthia Segal and her husband Peter of East Providence. She was the cherished grandmother of 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.

She was the sister of the late Elsie Fraser, Irene Mello, Joseph Perry, Jr., and Edward Perry. She was the grandmother of the late Brian Rebello and the mother-in-law of the late Charles Machado.

Visitation, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 9:00 to 9:45 AM in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated in her honor at 10:00 AM in Saint Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, at which time Madeline will be laid to rest with her late husband, Bill.

The family would like to give a special thank you to second floor staff of the Evergreen Nursing Home, the third floor staff of the Roger Williams Hospital, and Continuum Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island for all of the care, compassion and comfort they provided to Madeline during her final days.
